A work of the century! Countless gems from the treasure chest of film history. Any future work about Laurel and Hardy will have to be measured against this. Breathtaking.

The ultimate chronicle of the Worlds most beloved Comedy Team. It's all here in the gorgeous and superbly printed book. This was obviously put together with love and respect for our two protagonists. I've been a L&H for many decades and have read many books about them- both good and bad- but this volume outclasses them all. Stunning photographs (many in color) and an informative text make this book an absolute necessity for both scholars and fans of Stan and Ollie.

I finally just received my book. It was sent back to post office and I finally retrieved it. So worth the waite! It's a beautiful book. Pictures I haven't seen before. The pictures are magnificent. It was a lot of money for me to spend but well worth it. A lot of love and attention went into the making of this book and I am looking forward to Vol. 2

If there was a Premier League of Laurel and Hardy books, this one and inevitably its companion volume would be the champions by a country mile. I have never seen photographs of Laurel and Hardy reproduced with such clarity and sharpness. In this case size really does matter. The impact of the large images is mesmerising. Not only the standard studio portraits and film stills but behind the scenes images of the films are all reproduced with stunning impact on the finest quality paper. The addition of spot colouring in some of the images actually lifts them out of the ordinary but is not overdone as are the illustrations which are few and far between. Excellent chapters on the early days of The Boys and the start of their careers and supporting actors all make this a complete overview of the first part of their lives and is building up nicely to volume two. I can't recommend this book highly enough. When volume two is produced it is hard to see how anyone else can produce anything better and along with Randy Skretvedt's The Magic Behind The Movies these tomes will become the defining epitaphs to the world's greatest ever comedy team.

There is so much wonderful material in this book. I can tell its authors and other producers really respect and love Laurel & Hardy. Highly recommended.

It is the holy grail of Laurel & Hardy. I think it's by far the best book ever written about Laurel & Hardy.
